Look at the nations, watch & be utterly amazed

Frankfurt, Germany / February 15th, 2017

There is no other way to sum up this trip home than to say it could be one of the craziest and most outrageous of my entire life!

That is saying QUITE A BIT for someone who has traveled well over 3 million miles and too many nations to list in the last 12 years of full time ministry! But for the most unexpected ending, this journey watching God move across India and South Africa was one for the ages!

Following up the word God gave during our 10th annual week-long “New Years Fast” in January for the Burn 24-7 global family, this was the main verse highlighted to me:

“Look at the nations and watch– and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.”

Habakkuk 1:5

It’s not just that I’ve spent 12 days on 3 separate continents – or that our plane’s engine erupted DURING take off from Frankfurt yesterday (YIKES!) – or that an obviously possessed man punched a flight attendant on the same plane (DOUBLE YIKES) – or that the German police stormed the plane – or that we were stranded in Frankfurt with a protest/riot at the airport. All that provided was a comical relief or possible backlash to the end of an epic time seeing the finger of God (Luke 11:20) move across the nations!

A First For A Nation of 1.2 Billion

For the first time that we know of among these many persecuted people groups scattered across India, a worship and missions school was born specifically aimed at training through worship, prayer, creative initiatives and missional hearts to see all of India saved! Worship leaders and revivalists were gathered for our Burn 24-7 “Hillside Intensive India” school in a secret location in Mumbai. The nation of India and its 1.2 billion people is set to become the fastest growing revival in the history of the world (surpassing that of China) in the next 5 years on sheer population growth alone.

Former Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs and even former “head-hunter” tribes from the Northeastern states joined the school to be trained, equipped and commissioned to the corners of the nation to raise up a sound of day and night worship and reach their people for Jesus. Even though most knew they would face certain persecution and suffering, they carried such a tangible and expressible joy about them…I was wrecked! Many of the leading voices in the exploding worship movement streamed in from across the nation to be apart as well. It was one of the greatest privileges of my life to be apart of this historic school. After over 20 separate trips to this nation since I was 16 years old, this was definitely one of my favorites!

After the school ended each night, we would take rides on a sketchy motorcycle around the city (a true way to experience Indian culture!) and prayer walk through the slums and red light districts. The last night we climbed the highest skyscraper overlooking Kamathipura- Asia’s second largest Red Light District. Overlooking the “cages” where girls starting at 9 years old are sold each night for 5 rupees (11 cents), our hearts broke and intercession began erupting from our souls. This was a great reminder to what we called to do and why!

Yet hearing the endless testimonies of raw salvation encounters with the person of Jesus in the villages, temples and mosques of our students made the power of the Gospel come alive like never before! Anything is possible and the darkness cannot hide or hold back His love! It is so good and healthy for Western christians to witness the rawness of salvation encounters like this! Without being invited or being announced, God still crashes into the nations!

“I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’

Isaiah 65:1

Unity in Port Elizabeth

Then it was onto the beautiful nation of South Africa! After flying all night and day from Mumbai, I landed in Port Elizabeth directly into a night of worship with our longest standing Burn 24-7 furnace in the nation (6 Years). Almost 2000 people from all different backgrounds, skin colors and denominations gathered and would not stop singing for almost 4 hours into the meeting! It was powerful and “high crescendo” moment of unity for that city! What began in the hidden-ness of small little room many years ago has grown through faithfulness filling the largest buildings and churches in the city with unified worship!

This last weekend in Johannesburg was the crowning moment of the journey and perfect way to end! Thousands and thousands gathered in the capital city and heroes Bill Johnson and Paul Manwaring joined the party! This was Bill’s first ministry trip to the nation and their was great expectation for a dynamic move of God! So many miracles broke out, so many deliverances and so many salvations that I do not even know where to begin to share!

All Or Africa Will Be Saved

Tumors were disappearing, metal from inside peoples feet, arms, shoulders & even heads from surgeries was dissolved! Forty-year-long diseases and physical issues were instantly healed! More than the great signs and miracles that were so evident those days, was the rising tide of hunger for a fresh move of God in that nation. Barriers between pastors, leaders, churches and even theology came crumbling down as anthems of worship disarmed the tension and brought us into a place of divine unity. There was a “holy buzz” across country during this epic weekend and its only begun to get louder since it was over.

South Africa is primed to be the “city on hill” and shining light the rest of the continent! The last night of worship – that kept going and going and going with passion and fire – ending with a roar of voices shouting at the top of their lungs “ALL OF AFRICA SHALL BE SAVED.”

That single night marked my heart and convinced my soul that this was the greatest time in the history of that nation! What an unbelievable honor, joy and privilege to end our time with such a a stadium full of burning hearts!

God is on the move across the nations and the new year of 2017 has only just begun! Let us all continue to “look at the nations, watch and be utterly amazed!”
